I’m Lynette Eason and I want to say welcome to the hunt. I write Romantic Suspense. This new series has a bit of a military in it as you can see from the cover. I sure hope you enjoy making your way through the stops and gathering the clues. You can learn more about me and all my books here on my site and on BookBub, Facebook, and Twitter.

My newest release is the first in my new romantic suspense Danger Never Sleeps series—COLLATERAL DAMAGE.

Here’s what it’s about:

Collateral Damage by Lynette Eason

Honorably discharged from the Army after an explosion nearly killed her, former military psychiatrist Brooke Adams has set up shop to help others–but her days of helping military personnel are over. She’s got her own battles to fight from her time overseas, and she’s not equipped to take on more. Former Army Special Ops Sergeant First Class Asher James could handle anything that war sent his way–terrorists, bombs, bullets. The only thing that scares him now is sleep. As the shadows close in, the nightmares begin.

Finally convinced that he needs help, Asher makes an appointment with a counselor, and Brooke is pressed by her boss to take him on. When he arrives at her office she isn’t there–but a dead body is. Brooke is devastated when she walks in, and Asher is a conveniently strong shoulder to cry on. But she can’t take him on as a client after sharing such an intimate and unprofessional moment, can she? And he’s not sure he can handle sharing his deepest fears with such a beautiful woman.

When it becomes clear that Brooke was the real target of the attack–and that her secrets go even deeper than his own–Asher vows to protect her no matter what.

When I decided to write a book, I wasn’t sure exactly what that would entail, but I knew I wanted it to be the kind that I liked to read. Just recently, I’ve started a new series involving military vets. These heroes and heroines have all been in the military, but are now out for one reason or another. In order to portray these characters accurately, I needed to talk to people in the military. And I tried. I talked to someone who is currently serving in Afghanistan, I talked to someone who’d been in the Army and was now retired. I talked to about six different people. And the funny thing is, none of them could really answer the questions I had, but I wrote the scenes based on the information I had. About two weeks before my book was due to my editor, I was at a weekend conference on marketing. A young man was there teaching and in passing mentioned he was in the Army. You can bet I jumped on that. “What do you do?” I asked him. “I was in Special Ops.” I nearly fell over. My hero, who I was trying to write as accurately as possible, was in Special Ops. That guy at the conference read my scenes, gave me feedback and a lot “inside” lingo –stuff that I never found on the web and my contacts didn’t offer, and I’m now one hundred percent confident that if a military person reads those scenes, he or she will go, “Man, she knows her stuff—or at least took the time to do her research.”

And that’s very important to me. 🙂

I do hope you enjoy the story if you get a chance to read it!

    The Conversation

  1. Patricia Barraclough says:

The military “family” is special and it is difficult for someone who has not been part of it to really understand. For both the military member and their family the life and community offer special trials and rewards. The support of families for each other is there, relieving some of the stress on the deployed member. It is hard now that so many guard and reserve units are being deployed. Their families do not have the same type of community support that active duty families have within the military family. Civilians, even well meaning family and friends, just do not understand what the family is going through.
Best wishes for a successful series.
