Hi! My name’s Lynette Eason and I’m an author of Romantic Suspense stories.  I grew up reading Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, Trixie Belden, the Boxcar Children, Agatha Christie, and more. So you can see why my writing would include some form of suspense! LOL. You can learn more about me and all my books here on my site and on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.   My newest release is VOW OF JUSTICE. Here’s what it’s about:

FBI Special Agent Lincoln St. John is living his own personal nightmare. When the woman he loves, Allison Radcliffe, is killed, he devotes his life to tracking down the killers and making them pay for their crimes. He expected it to be a challenge. What he never expected was to find Allison very much alive shortly after her “murder.” As his anger and hurt mix with relief, Linc isn’t sure how he’s supposed to feel. One thing he does know for sure: he and Allison will have to work together to stop a killer before she dies a second time–this time for good.

Allie finds herself in a battle between Justice and Revenge. It’s a feeling I became intimately familiar with just this week!

When I first started this story, I wasn’t really sure where I was going with it. However, after only a few chapters in, I realized my heroine Allie, wanted revenge on the person who killed her family. As the story unfolds, she has to make some very hard decisions. Through a series of events and her partner’s straight-forward, yet gentle direction, she finally comes to understand that revenge and justice are two different things. Not that she didn’t know that before, but when the opportunity presents itself for her to finally get the revenge she’s been desiring for over fifteen years, she has to decide whether or not to take it.

So…true story. I sent this text to a group of friends earlier today:

“So…since I’m sitting here waiting on the police with nothing better to do, I have a story for you. Jack (husband) and I arrived in Dallas, Tx Monday night around 7:00pm. Used valet parking and went off to our room. Fast forward to today. Alycia got here yesterday and today we decided to ride in to Waco. I got my car out of hock and off we went. Pulled through a Chick-fil-A and i went to pay with the money i keep in my console–and it was gone. The money, not the console. In its place was a lighter. I’m sorry, but…what? At first we thought it was a vape, but upon closer inspection, it appears to be a lighter. Whatever. It doesn’t belong to me and it was placed in my console. My now empty of 60-70 bucks console. I called the hotel, talked to the valet manager who, in turn, watched the security footage of our arrival on Monday and departure this morning around 8:15. When Alycia and I arrived back to the hotel at 3:45pm, the valet manager, William, came out and said he’d watched the video and the person who parked the car was a long-time employee and he really doesn’t believe he could do such a thing. He asked to see the lighter. I had it wrapped in a napkin to preserve any prints and handed it to him. He proceeded to rub it like he was trying to erase those possible prints!! I’m not even kidding. I literally jerked it out of his hand and told him not to do that. He protested his innocence in saying he was just trying to light it. Right. Sure. (Maybe he was and I’m just super suspicious of everything right now, but seriously don’t think so! What possible need would there be for him to light it??) I then told him I was calling the police and he was rather mad, I think. Anyway, could you just pray that nothing else happens to my car when I have to let them park it later? My suspense brain is working overtime. There’s really no way to prove who took the money. There are prints on the lighter. But it’s not like this is a murder. Yet. LOL. So I don’t know if anyone will even care when there are way more serious crimes being committed. Anyway, Thanks for praying any you feel led to pray. I appreciate it.”

I was mad, sure. Who wouldn’t be? My first thought was that I was going to find out who had done this and make him pay. Yes, I’ll admit, my first reaction was that I wanted revenge. But once I calmed down, I decided justice would probably be the better route. I called the police and filed a report. Nothing will probably happen. The security footage didn’t show the actual theft so there was no way to prove what really happened. However, there’s a record of it now and the valet employee may think twice about stealing again. Maybe. Maybe not. I’m hoping having the police there at least threw a scare into the guilty one–if he was there to see it. I’m sure his co-workers will fill him in. I will say the police officer who responded to the call was fabulous. Courteous and sympathetic, etc. He was great. I even managed to snag a selfie with him because I plan to put this in a book one day.

Here’s the gift the thief left in return for my cash. Apparently, he thought his lighter was worth $60-$70…oh, and he took my tic tacs, too! Guess he had to get rid of that smoky breath before returning to his post!

What about you? Is there something you’re dealing with when it comes to feelings of revenge vs. justice? I know my little incident pales in comparison to some, but it was still a crime and it was perpetrated against me. That’s no fun. What’s your stance on revenge and justice?

Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason closes out her Blue Justice series with a story that will have you tearing through the pages to get to the stunning conclusion.

When Riley Matthews (niece of Daniel Matthews from the book Without Warning in the Elite Guardians series) heads to North Carolina to rescue her best friend from the Swiss Saints cult, she quickly runs into trouble. Steve Patterson, home from Afghanistan and ready to adjust to civilian life, wants that life to include Riley Matthews. But first, he has to find her, help her recue her friend–and convince her that he’s a changed man. Only Riley’s not so sure she believes him. Truthfully, her heart wants to say all is forgiven, but her head won’t let her forget the pain he caused her when he left without so much as a goodbye. Working together, they find that rescuing her friend is one thing. Rescuing an entire compound of innocent people might just prove impossible. But they have to try–or one man’s evil schemes will have tragic consequences.
