Scavenger Hunt Stop #20

Welcome to stop #20!

Follow the clues for a Chance to Win a Kindle Fire HDX or 30+ novels!

Welcome to the Autumn 2014 Scavenger Hunt. You have arrived at Stop #20. The hunt begins at noon (Mountain Time Zone) on October 17, 2014. You may have arrived here before the start which could mean all of the sites aren’t ready quite yet. Once the official start has begun, you should go to Stop #1 (www.robinleehatcher.com) and then work your way through the sites, gathering clues and entering bonus giveaways, until you reach the final stop which will also be on the site of Robin Lee Hatcher.

The hunt ends on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at one minute before midnight (Mountain). That means you have all of the weekend to finish it, so take your time. Enjoy reading the exclusive content the authors have prepared for you. You will collect a CLUE IN RED at each stop. Write them down as you go. At the end of the hunt, you will enter the clues into a Rafflecopter form. (The answer will make sense, even if you aren’t familiar with the quote.)

The hunt is open to international entries. The grand prize is a Kindle Fire HDX. Two runners-up will receive a new release from each of the participating authors.

IN CASE YOU FIND A BROKEN LINK…

Robin Lee Hatcher has prepared a “cheat sheet” with direct links to each author’s post in case a site goes down or a link gets broken. We hope there will be no such issues, but just in case, please make note of the URL for the Participating Authors & Stops page so you can check back and be able to complete the hunt.

And now without further ado, Here is Leslie Gould!

About Becoming Bea

Beatrice Zook knows God wants her to get along with others, but one person she’ll never be able to find peace with is Ben Rupp.

The two have known each other since their Amish school days, when the two relentlessly antagonized each other. What neither Bea nor Ben will admit is that beneath all their bickering, attraction awaits. When friends decide to try and bring the couple together, sparks fly—and then ignite—but not in the way their friends hoped for.

Mistaken identity, betrayal, and deception all work against the couple and threaten to tear them apart forever. Can Bea and Ben ever find true love? Or is their relationship damaged beyond repair?

Amish + Shakespeare = Becoming Bea

For which of my bad parts didst thou first fall in love with me?
William Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing

Retelling Much Ado About Nothing as an Amish romance was an easy decision for me. I’ve always loved the play and especially the characters of Beatrice and Benedick.

What made retelling the story even more fun were two “recent” movie productions of the play.

• Okay, 1993 isn’t exactly “recent.” It’s actually quite a while ago, but I clearly remember how thrilled I was with the film as if it were yesterday. Emma Thompson, one of my favorite actresses, was perfect as Beatrice. And Kenneth Branagh did a fine job as Benedick as well.

I thought of the film as I started writing my story, although mine is set in Lancaster County, not Italy (as is the original play). And I mixed things up a little, giving my Bea the greatest conflict and heartache in the story.

• Much to my delight, another film version of Much Ado About Nothing released in 2012. This one was directed by Joss Whedon (think Avengers), and stars Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof. My Bea and Ben are a bit younger than Joss Whedon’s, but his modern setting was a delight to watch.

I was surprised that Amy Acker portrayed Beatrice as well as Emma Thompson did. I didn’t think it was possible! So fun to see a favorite character drawn so well in two different movies.

To see how I portrayed Beatrice, you’ll have to read Becoming Bea!

Lynette Here: I didn’t know Leslie before this hunt so it’s really cool to not only introduce new authors to readers, but to get to know one myself! I’m looking forward to reading Leslie’s new book and hope you are, too. You can get a copy of it at:
